My name is Weila. I have a nickname, Mafalda.

 

I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker with standard pronunciation.

As a child growing up with a father who is a linguist speaks 5 foreign languages, and worked as a translator, I was taught English at age 4, then Japanese at age 10.

​

When I was in Shanghai, as a young adult, I worked as a Chinese tutor for expats for about 2 years.

​

Then, I moved to Europe at age 26. In Belgium, I studied French and completed my MS in Marketing, then I moved to New York with my husband and lived there for about 4 years. I also spent 2 years in Rome and studied Italian language, history and culture.

Since 2016, I have been living in the DC area and continue exploring new languages.I have been tutoring college students, adults, and kids since then. Until now, I have about 300 hours of tutoring experiences with English speaking students.
